Welcome to the Perry Removals of Colchester website. This website has been designed to help you through the process of moving home with information not only on the removal itself but on other pre and post removal day issues.
Claiming to be the oldest town in Britain, Colchester is certainly the oldest recorded Roman town with its grand Roman Colchester Castle which is one and a half times the size of the Tower of London nonetheless. Colchester also has the oldest Royal Charter to hold a market. Although it has a much reduced military presence compared with the mid 1900's it is still home to the 16th Air Assault Brigade and the military prison known as the "Glasshouse". Three folksong nursery rhymes are connected with the town, 'Old King Cole' who is said to be an ancient King of Britain, 'Humpty Dumpty' who was supposedly a rather round sharp shooter who was felled from the belfry of a local church and 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' which was written in the town by Jane Taylor in 1806.
John Ball of 'Peasants Revolt' fame, artist John Constable, Margaret Thatcher and Mary Whitehouse all have all had connections with the town. Colchester is the County Town of Essex, and home to the University of Essex and Colchester Zoo. More recently Matt Cardle, the winner of TV's 'X Factor' was sixth form student in Colchester.
Perry Removals have carried out 100's of military moves to and from the garrison area and numerous other residential and commercial moves throughout the Colchester district.
